Settling In

We have a close relationship with our partner primary schools. There is a highly developed Transition programme with A Mentor and Senior Staff visiting feeder schools on a regular basis, and an Open Evening in October for pupils and parents.

An Intake Day is organised in July so that all new pupils experience a full day in school, in their new forms with a Form Tutor. This is followed by an Intake Evening for parents, with opportunities to ask questions and meet staff.

All Year 7 students work in their form groups for Form Studies, which include History, Geography, P.S.E. and R.E.  We make this provision to reinforce pupil support and security and to ensure smooth continuity in the delivery of the National Curriculum.

A Parents Evening early in the year helps parents to ascertain how well their children have settled into school.

Smooth Transition: Form Studies in Year 7

In Year 7, History, Geography, Religious Education and Personal and Social Education are known as Form Studies.  These subjects are taught by the Form Tutor in the pupil’s form base.  Together with our primary school links, this ensures smooth continuity in the National Curriculum and is seen as a strength in provision in the early years at North Chadderton.

Developing opportunities for the wider community

North Chadderton School will offer opportunities to people in the wider community who wish to develop their business and ICT skills.  This includes parents, local residents and small business owners.

Attaining Specialist College status for Business and Enterprise gives recognition to the excellent work done at North Chadderton.  We do our very best to ensure all our pupils acquire skills for a lifetime of learning.
