Dear Parents, Colleagues and Partners,
North Chadderton School is a very special place. It has a long established reputation for providing an academically challenging and creative education for all of its students. They thrive by being encouraged to not only develop their own talents and leadership skills, but also to learn the importance of contributing to the life of the school and wider community.
North Chadderton School has a clear mission statement “driven to be outstanding in all that we do”. Successful education is about working in close partnership with our students and providing a personal education pathway for each one of them whatever their ability. Our guarantee is that we prepare every student for a lifetime of success by providing them with the finest education possible. The school is focussed on developing and embedding student leadership and is growing its student body around the 5 R’s:
All underpinned by a culture of Respect.
The school converted to become a single academy on September 1st 2014. This means that the school is financed directly from central government and has greater freedom and autonomy as to how it deploys its finances to achieve the maximum impact on learning for every student.
We hope the balance of traditional values and the very highest expectations will provide the perfect platform to enable every student to be given the best possible chance of success. The school has an unrelenting focus on its outcomes that is matched with expert guidance and support for every student.
North Chadderton School achieved exceptional success at GCSE in August 2014 where it gained 75% 5A*-C including English and Maths. In English 87.1% A*-C was achieved (25% above the national average) and in Maths 80% A*-C was achieved (18% above the national average). At ‘A’ Level 97% A*-E was achieved resulting in 92% of Year 13 students progressing into higher education with 8% moving directly into employment.
This reaffirms that at North Chadderton, a learning culture is created where students are given the opportunity to achieve the highest possible standards. Successful education is built on a solid partnership between the school, students and parents. I very much welcome the support that parents provide in reinforcing these high standards and expectations. Their strong partnership with the school enables students to develop as successful citizens of the future.
This culture of aspiration was reaffirmed when the school was inspected by Ofsted in January 2013. The school was delighted with the inspection teams’ findings and judgements, which resulted in the school being judged as ‘Good’ in all areas including the Sixth Form. The inspection team commented that:
• Achievement is well above the national averages for English and Maths.
• Teaching is good because the school has invested heavily in training teachers and support colleagues.
• A positive ethos in the school means that the students behave well.
• The Sixth Form is good.
• The school fosters good relationships with parents.
• The priorities for the school’s improvement are clearly understood by all staff.
• The Governing Body is fully committed to the success of the school.
“These good Ofsted judgements recognise the serious ‘Team Effort’ made by the entire school community along with their desire and ambition for sustained success”.
The entire team at North Chadderton is focussed on mapping the school’s journey to become Outstanding. Staff and students clearly understand their individual responsibilities within this journey built on marginal gains and highly effective teamwork.
I hope the above information clearly sets down a culture of aspiration, achievement and success within North Chadderton School. I very much look forward to welcoming you to the school and working with you as your son or daughter progresses through the school.
