FINE ART CURRICULUM INTENT |
The Art Curriculum at North Chadderton aims to provide students with a broad, ambitious and knowledge rich curriculum that develops understanding and critical appreciation of artistic techniques and styles, independence in working with a range of traditional and modern creative processes from research, through planning to completion of artefacts and reflection. We aim for students to realise their intentions and develop transferable skills for the world of work. |
WHY FINE ART? |
Choose Three-Dimensional Design if you would like to work practically with 3D materials, continue to explore a range of themes, learn about the artwork of others and how it relates to the way we live. You will have the opportunity to create larger, more personal 3D outcomes yourself, working towards a GCSE examination in the summer term of the second year of the course.
This course is very different to most GCSEs as it is 60% coursework, and the 40% examination is also coursework based. You will be given all the help, materials and support you need.
If you enjoy KS3 art, especially working in 3D, then you will enjoy subject. Good drawing and creative thinking skills are helpful, but definitely not essential as they can be taught. All you need is a willingness to learn and a desire to succeed.
After completing GCSE Three Dimensional Design, you could choose to go on to an A Level Art or BTEC Course, which would then lead to an Art Foundation course and a range of creative art and design degree courses. Many of our students have gone on to work in creative and enterprising areas of art and design, such as Architecture, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, 3D Design, Theatre Design, Costume Design, Exhibition Design, Product Design, Jewellery Design, Interior Design, Decoration Environmental/Garden Design, Film and Television Design. |
