About Us

North Chadderton School is a very special place. It has a long-established reputation for providing an academically challenging and creative education for all its students. They thrive by being encouraged to not only develop their own talents and leadership skills, but also to learn the importance of contributing to the life of the school and wider community.

North Chadderton School’s ambition is reflected in its mission statement “Transforming lives through the power of education”. Successful education is about working in close partnership with our students and providing a personal pathway for each one of them, whatever their ability.  This school works hard to support all its students in developing the skills to cope with the demands of everyday life.

The school has an unrelenting focus on the success of every student supported with expert guidance, care and support. Our guarantee is that we prepare every student for a lifetime of success, by providing them with the finest education possible. The school is focussed on developing and embedding student leadership and we work hard on ensuring young people leave us with a range of skills and attributes that go hand in hand with their academic qualifications and help to open doors for them in the future.

The school recently became part of a Multi Academy Trust “The Oak Trust for Inspirational Learning and Leadership” which has a focus on developing into a Secondary, Primary Trust with local Primary Schools to support an Early Years to Post-16 educational pathways.  The vision of the Oak Trust is to ensure all students within it are, “school ready, life ready, work ready”.

We hope the balance of traditional values and the very highest expectations will provide the perfect platform to enable every student to be given the best possible chance of success. The school has an unrelenting focus on its outcomes that is matched with expert guidance and support for every student.

This summer students in Year 11 achieved some of the best results the school has ever had, with outcomes in 18 GCSE subjects exceeding the National Averages. English, Maths and Science achievements were particularly outstanding and our outcomes place us up there as one of the best performing schools in Oldham. The number of students choosing to remain in our Sixth Form after their GCSE’s has hit record numbers, again acknowledging the impact of the support our young people feel they have at the school.

Our Sixth Form outcomes continue to go from strength to strength with students achieving some of our best outcomes, particularly with regards to our vocational qualifications and the percentage of students achieving good grades in three or more A-Levels.

The school is very proud of its sustained success at both A Level and GCSE. This reaffirms that, at North Chadderton, a learning culture is created where students are given the opportunity to achieve the highest possible standards. Successful education is built on a solid partnership between the school, students and parents. I very much welcome the support that parents provide in reinforcing these high standards and expectations. Their strong partnership with the school enables students to develop as successful citizens of the future and ensures students leave us at well rounded young people.

This culture of aspiration was reaffirmed when the school was last inspected by Ofsted in May 2017.  The school was delighted with the inspection team’s findings and judgements, which resulted in the school being judged “continuing to be Good in all areas”.

Ofsted stated:

  • “All pupils experience effective teaching”.
  • Parental feedback “The school provides an excellent learning environment in which children are developed not just academically but also that they are socially aware and able to contribute to the world outside of school”.

The entire team at North Chadderton is focussed on mapping the school’s journey to become outstanding. Staff and students clearly understand their individual responsibilities within this journey, built on highly effective teamwork. Our school ethos is totally aspirational, and the environment pervades this ethic.

I hope the above information clearly explains the culture of aspiration, achievement and success within North Chadderton School. I very much look forward to welcoming you to the school and working with you as your son or daughter progresses through the school.
