At North Chadderton School, we believe that all pupils, regardless of their economic, social or academic background, deserve access to a knowledge-rich curriculum that provides them with the best possible chance of success. Our curriculum offer is designed to enable all our pupils to leave us as work ready, lifelong learners who are happy, investigative and inquiring.

At North Chadderton School, we provide a knowledge-rich and coherent curriculum in a range of subjects. The curriculum aims to provide students with deep knowledge in a broad and balanced range of subjects.
Carefully considered planning and sequencing of content will allow pupils to acquire and retain the core knowledge that they need. All subject content is taught through high quality teaching, which supports pupils in embedding common skills of writing, reading and numeracy. This rich and engaging curriculum provides students with the personal development and cultural capital they require to thrive both in school and in life.
The curriculum is structured as a five- or seven-year journey (for those pupils who stay with us for post-16 study). Pupils spend three years within Key Stage 3, studying a broad range of subjects that offer them a secure foundation in knowledge and skills. Pupils then select subjects that they wish to specialise in during Year 9 for their two-year GCSE programme of study. This approach offers both a strong foundation for all and allows personalised GCSE pathways (with guidance) at Key Stage 4.
At Key Stage 5, students can select from different pathways that suit their needs and aspirations for their futures, including a host of A Level subjects, complimented by a high-quality vocational offer. These pathways are carefully designed to provide post-16 students with the currency they need to be successful and confident when competing in the world of further education and work.
Each subject provides a coherent and cohesive learning journey and provision map, which details the rationale behind every curriculum choice.
