INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CURRICULUM INTENT |
The aim of IT at North Chadderton School is to provide a high-quality computing education which equips students to use computational thinking and creativity to help solve problems in the real world. We study Computing to help us think in a more logical way and become better at making decisions in a world that is rapidly changing and demanding technological expertise. The curriculum will teach students key knowledge about how computers and computer systems work, and how they are designed and programmed. |
WHY DIGITAL INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY? |
Over the last 20 years technology has dramatically changed the way in which we live and communicate. Information and Communications Technology focuses on how individuals and organisations use technology with specific focus on user interface design, the use of data within businesses and modern working practices.
There is an increasing skills gap in the UK with the workforce lacking in ICT skills required for many jobs, an ICT qualification will put the students in a good position for the future. This qualification is designed for those students who are looking for a career in ICT as well as those who are not necessarily looking for a career in ICT but who need a background in using ICT (e.g. administrators and office workers, sales staff, doctors, solicitors and bank workers).
Careers in ICT include IT Support Engineer, Web design, Software Engineer, Business Analyst. |
