| FOOD PREPARATION & NUTRITION CURRICULUM INTENT |
| The study of Design and Technology curriculum allows students to become self-motivated and confident learners, who can work independently and as part of a team. We aim to ensure that learners develop wide range of new skills that will be acquired across all Design and Technology disciplines working with a range of materials and manufacturing processes. Also, incorporating knowledge of other subjects, which are valued by employers. We encourage students to be active creators of their own learning, empowering them to think outside the box to overcome obstacles, whilst working towards a design brief. We demonstrate our passion and enthusiasm for the subject through teaching new technologies and modern industrial processes, whilst retaining the best of traditional practices to allow students to be work ready. |
| WHY FOOD PREPARATION & NUTRITION? |

Interested in understanding the science behind the food ingredients? This is an exciting course in focussing on the food science and nutrition. It gives you an opportunity to investigate different ingredients and explaining the chemical functional properties. This course will help you build confidence in research, problem solving, cooking skills, understanding the importance of healthy eating, how ingredients work and developing and evaluating products. You will be responding to a brief each time you cook to become more independent and work to time constraints. Not only is this course a great life skill to have but it is a platform to develop into further courses or employment which involve food preparation, cooking, manufacture or science. |
