How we meet Provider Access Legislation 2024

Provider Access 2024

The updated provider access legislation (PAL) specifies schools must provide at least six encounters for all their students.  At North Chadderton School we fully meet this requirement through the following encounters: -     

 

Two encounters for pupils during the ‘first key phase’ (Year 8 or 9) that are mandatory for all pupils to attend  

  • Local FE College Assembly for all year 9 pupils about Vocational routes and apprenticeships
  • Talk and Q&A Session by Local College for all year 9 pupils about T Levels
  • Big Assembly Webinar - Year 8/9 that covers apprenticeships

 

Two encounters for pupils during the ‘second key phase’ (Year 10 or 11) that are mandatory for all pupils to attend  

  • Year 10 Apprenticeships Talk by Matt Leigh from GMLPN
  • Year 10 Oldham College Taster Day Summer
  • Year 11 Taster Day – involving some pupils visiting the local FE College.
  • Year 11 Assembly on T Levels and other vocational routes by Manchester College.

 

Two encounters for pupils during the ‘third key phase’ (Year 12 or 13) that are mandatory for the school to put on but optional for pupils to attend 

  • Year 12 talk and workshop by local apprenticeship employer about apprenticeships in their business
  • Year 13 assembly with information from a provider about post 18 academy and degree apprenticeships
  • Year 13 talk by Matt Leigh about apprenticeships and further courses plus a workshop run by Matt Leigh
  • Year 12 trip during Future’s week to Huddersfield University
  • Year 12 visit to National Apprenticeship Expo Event
