PHYSICAL EDUCATION CURRICULUM INTENT |
To inspire students to engage in life-long participation of sports and physical activities, to develop the student's self-esteem and wellbeing whilst ensuring they understand the long-term benefits of taking part. Students are provided with a curriculum that offers the opportunity to be performers or leaders, which has been carefully crafted to develop physical skills, deepen knowledge of rules, sporting actions and safety within sports. |
WHY PHYSICAL EDUCATION? |
Do you love playing sports? Are you interested in how the human body works? Do you love science?
If you love playing sport, have lots of energy and enjoy learning about movement then studying GCSE PE is a good choice for you. Playing sport for a club or outside of school also gives you an advantage. The course is not just about playing sport, you’ll learn lots more about health and well-being, how the body works and contemporary issues in sport.
Physical Education helps to develop and maintain confidence, well-being and social skills that are also associated with life skills. Encouraging you to continue in long life participation in sports and physical activity. Some of the main fundamental skills that are associated with GCSE PE are communication, applying and understanding your knowledge about physical fitness, understand the science behind sporting movements with mastering the knowledge how the human body works.
Once you have studied the course there are many further study and career opportunities within the sport and fitness industry, ranging from Physiotherapist, sports scientist, nutritionist, personal trainers, coaches/leaders and many more. |
