Reporting and assessment

As a school we value not only the academic achievement of our students but also the development of their personal character and skills. This will be reflected in the way we report to parents/carers. North Chadderton endeavours to make information regarding your child’s progress as clear as possible.  You will regularly receive reports home regarding all aspects of your child’s academic and personal development.

The school will report student progress to parents at key points throughout the academic year. The schedule for this can be seen on the school calendar. Reports will be sent to parents via the school My Ed, these will also include further detailed grade descriptors.

Key Stage 3:

In the Autumn term Year 7 students will be issued with an Engagement with Learning report to inform parents/carers how well their child has settled into North Chadderton School. They will then receive two subsequent reports outlining engagement with learning and the current quintile of attainment. This allows parents to see which areas their child has significant strengths, and which areas their child may need to develop further.

In Years 8 and 9, students will receive two reports outlining engagement with learning for each subject and the quintile placement of the student.

Key Stage 4:

In the Autumn term, Year 10 students will be issued with an Engagement with Learning report to inform parents/carers how well their child has settled into their KS4 subjects. They will then receive two subsequent reports outlining engagement with learning and the current quintile of progress. This allows parents to see which areas their child has significant strengths, and which areas their child may need to develop further.

For Year 11, this will be Engagement with learning and a current working grade in the Autumn term and also at the end of the Spring term before Easter.  Around Christmas, students will receive a report with school standards and their mock examination results.  Students will receive a similar report in late Spring, following the second series of mock examinations.

Key Stage 5:

For Year 12, in the Autumn term, students will be issued with an Engagement with Learning descriptors, alongside an Attendance and Punctuality summary. In both the Spring and Summer terms, reports will include Average Attainment grades, Engagement with Learning descriptors and an Attendance and Punctuality summary, in addition to any mock attainment data (where appropriate).

For Year 13 in both the Autumn and Spring term, reports will include Average Attainment grades, Mock grades, Engagement with Learning descriptors and an Attendance and Punctuality summary.
