Pathways to Success – KS4

Introduction to Pathways

The 2021 Key Stage 4 Pathways to Success process is an important one and this website has been designed to inform you about this exciting next phase in your child’s education.

At North Chadderton School, we want all our students to leave us with qualifications in high quality subjects and at the highest possible grades. Students differ in their abilities and interests and therefore, we aim to provide a curriculum offer that caters for both.

From Year 10 onwards, we offer a curriculum which is personalised to meet the needs of each and every student. Students will be provided with a bespoke Pathway to Success based on their achievement on entry to North Chadderton and their current attainment. There are 3 Pathways to Success.

Alongside the compulsory, core curriculum, which includes English, Mathematics and Science, students will be able to select additional subjects to study depending on their individualised pathway. This is an opportunity for students to specialise and pick subjects that they enjoy and will help develop the skills they need for the future.

North Chadderton School also values wider skills development that ensure our young people leave us as well rounded and well informed citizens and as such will be both life and work ready.

As a result, all students will have compulsory PDP (personal development programme) lessons that cover:

  • Careers advice and guidance
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Health and Sex Education
  • Physical Education
  • Personal Development
  • Religious Education

To help in making informed decisions, parents/carers and students should;

1. Watch the introductory presentation.

2. View the bespoke Pathways to Success Booklet (this has been emailed to Year 9 Parents).

3. Watch the subject videos accessible via this link.

An online bespoke Pathway form will also be emailed out to all parents on 22nd February where you and your child can make subject selections. In addition from the 22nd February 2021, an online form will be sent to all year 9 parents for you to indicate if you would like further information from a particular subject, the SEND team, a Senior Leader or Head of Year.
