Transition Information

Letter Two

May 2020

Dear parents, carers and year 6 students,

I hope that you and your families are continuing to keep safe and well during these unprecedented times.  Now, as we come to the end of the first half of the summer term 2020, I am writing to you with a few reminders and some updates around transition for the year 6 students this year.

Many of you have visited the transition page on our school website; (  We really hope that the booklet on here has answered many of the questions you may currently have.  Many of you have also viewed our ‘virtual tour’ which takes you on a whistle stop visit of all the key places in the school.  We have now introduced a quiz linked to the tour to make it a little more interactive, please encourage your son / daughter to complete this and email answers to Mrs Mushing.  There will be an e-certificate sent to those who complete the quiz!  The quiz is available on the transition page of the website.

Given that our year 6 admissions evening will not be able to take place this year we have asked that you complete all the information that you would normally bring in on this evening using a secure online form.  Many of you have already done this – we thank you for this as it means we are able to put your child’s details onto our school systems - but for those who have still to complete it the deadline for this is FRIDAY 29TH MAY.  The link is clearly indicated on the transition page of the website.

We have recently had some further guidance regarding the purchase of uniform from our suppliers ZUTTI.  Again, we have emailed this information to our new parents and sent it to the primary schools to distribute but there is a link on the website if you have not yet seen this information.

We hope that the information on the website is helpful and addresses any questions or concerns that you may have.  You will notice that we have also recently added a FAQ sheet.  If there are any other questions you would like us to answer, please get in touch with us by email and we will endeavour to respond as soon as possible.  A reminder of your key contacts:

Mrs A Mushing – Achievement Coordinator –

Mr A Harrison – Assistant Head of Year –

Mr M Sumner – Head of Year –

Mrs H Kaysor – Assistant Director of KS3 –

Mrs T Walker – Senior Director of KS3 –

Mrs A Greenwood – Designated Safeguarding Lead –

We hope to be able to contact you all personally over the coming weeks, to check in with you and make sure that the students are excited about the move to secondary school and reassure them that all will be well and we will look after them, settle them in quickly and ensure their transition can be the best it can possibly be.  In the meantime if you have any concerns, questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact the staff outlined above and they will be happy to help.

Yours sincerely

Sarah North
