Choose Photography if you are creative and would enjoy working practically with cameras to create individual and personal outcomes. Select this course if you would enjoy exploring a range of themes and ideas whilst learning how artists and photographers’ work. You will have the opportunity to learn and work independently towards a GCSE over 2 years. 

This course is very different to most GCSEs as it is 60% coursework, and the 40% examination is also coursework based. You will be given all the help, materials and support you need.  

You will enjoy this subject if you enjoy being creative and have a specific interest in Photography. Good technical skills and creative thinking skills are helpful but can be taught. You will need a willingness to learn and a desire to succeed. 

After completing a GCSE in Photography, you could choose to go on to an A level Photography or BTEC Course. This might then lead to an Art Foundation Course and a Photography related degree course. Careers that can lead from this include: Fine Art Photography, Photojournalism, Wildlife Photography, Advertising, Wedding Photographer, Teacher, Studio Photographer and other careers in the Media.
