Sixth Form

Welcome to the Sixth Form College

Our mission is to provide a high quality Post-16 education with a focus on a range of A Level subjects that offer a time-tested proven route to university, employment and Level 3 apprenticeships.

It is our aim to offer the students of Chadderton and the surrounding area an unrivalled level of pastoral care so they can flourish, succeed and benefit from today’s global employment market.

The majority of students follow the newly-reformed, linear Advanced Level courses which can lead to University entrance or higher level apprenticeships. In Year 12, most students will study 3 or 4 A Levels, which they will continue into Year 13. Many students will also complete Applied A Level or BTEC courses, which offer an alternative, vocational pathway through post-16 education. The North Chadderton Personal Development Programme is also offered to broaden students’ development. We offer students access to the AQA Baccalaureate and the Extended Project Qualification, which enables students to gain an additional ½ A Level by completing an independent research project.

The Sixth Form College has its own Senior Student Team and Prefect Team who act as ambassadors for the school and Sixth Form College, leading on a range of initiatives including fundraising, arts and cultures at North Chadderton, events planning and coaching. All students are encouraged to take part in our wider LORIC skills programme, to develop their Leadership, Organisation, Resilience, Initiative and Communication. We offer students the opportunity to work with younger pupils on supported-reading, Physical Education and other individual skill areas. Students regularly reflect on their wider skills development as part of the Personal Development Programme, take part in peer-to-peer mentoring and a variety of other extra-curricular activities such as Young Enterprise  and the Duke of Edinburgh Award. This excellent experience is valued by both Higher Education establishments and employers.

At North Chadderton Sixth Form College we have considerable experience in helping students achieve their potential and in preparing them for success beyond the Sixth Form College. Our Summer 2018 results are evidence of the consistently outstanding attainment of students in our Sixth Form, with students gaining a record number of A* grades, along with 95% of our subjects beating national averages at grades A*-E Our performance in Applied A Level subjects was significantly above national average, further demonstrating our ability to support both academic and vocational pathways.

The advantage of a school with a Sixth Form College rests in the quality of the relationships between the students, their parents and the staff. Keeping everybody informed is of paramount importance.

We have a close partnership with Oldham Connexions Service.

We are proud of our students’ impressive record of success when they leave North Chadderton.  Many students progress to further or higher education.  We have a great record of students achieving places at the most prestigious Universities including Oxford and Cambridge.  Some students go directly into training or employment, covering a wide range of occupations.  We also have excellent links to support students with Level 3 Apprenticeship programmes.

The support I get offered is great and I feel really valued
