Year 10

Welcome from the Head of Year

Year 10 (ID 1285)

Year 10 marks a time of great excitement and anticipation as students begin a fresh chapter in their educational journey. It is the official start of the GCSE Pathway — a crucial stage where students engage more deeply in their chosen subjects, laying the foundations for future success at post-16 and beyond.

From the very first day of term, students will be immersed in a learning environment filled with energy, purpose, and opportunity. Classrooms will come alive with discussion, activities, and discovery, as students begin to carve a pathway toward their future aspirations.

This year is a vital time for students to embrace the subject choices they made during the options process. It is an opportunity to shine — to remain focused, work diligently, and aim to achieve above and beyond in all GCSE subjects. Each subject deserves their full attention and commitment to help unlock their full potential.

Mr Ali and I are committed to supporting all Year 10 students — both emotionally and academically — throughout the year. We are here to ensure that every individual feels guided and supported as they progress through this important stage of their education.

At North Chadderton School, we expect our students to live out our ethos: “Be Kind, Make a Difference.” Demonstrating kindness and a positive attitude not only benefits others but fosters personal growth. Even small acts of kindness can transform the school environment, creating an inclusive and respectful atmosphere where everyone feels valued. These experiences help develop empathy, compassion, and leadership — skills that will serve our students well in school and in life.

Your child’s emotional wellbeing and academic success are our priorities. If you have any concerns, please contact your child’s form tutor in the first instance. They will be able to direct you to the most appropriate member of staff for further support.

Finally, we must stress the importance of attendance and punctuality. Being in school, and on time, is essential to ensure that learning is not missed. Every lesson counts, and regular attendance plays a vital role in academic success.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to make Year 10 a memorable and successful year for all.
