Year 9

Welcome from the Head of Year

Dear parents and carers of Year 9,

Welcome to the Year 9 page. My name is Miss R Crawford and I have been lucky enough to lead this year group since they started their North Chadderton journey back in Year 7.  Over that time, I have seen them grow and develop into lovely young people.

Year 9 is a crucial year in the educational journey as this is when students begin to plan, and map out certain aspects of their route for future learning. Our Pathways to Success process forms an important part of the year and for the first time in their education, students can make decisions about some of the subjects they wish to study in years 10 and 11, so this really is the time to begin the process of planning for future study and beyond that, their training and entry into careers and to take further steps to fulfil The Oak Trust's aim of becoming work ready and life ready.

As the most senior Key Stage 3 students, we look to our Year 9 students to further develop their responsibilities as role models around the building, and the majority of them take this in their stride and represent their year group very positively. Throughout Year 9 we provide an array of pastoral support as students navigate their way into young adult life. At the heart of everything we do, are our school values;- Be Kind, Work Hard and Make A Difference. In helping me maintain this, I am fortunate to have the support of Mrs M Cunningham, the Assistant Head of Year 9 and Mrs Z Spanswick, our Year 9 Achievement Support Practitioner - between us we work collaboratively to help deal with any questions, queries or worries students may have, and to help them navigate the challenges inherent with progressing through the year.
