Year 9

Welcome from the Head of Year

Year 9 (ID 1284)

This academic year offers fresh opportunities for all students to grow in confidence, take on new challenges, and discover what they are capable of achieving. At North Chadderton School, we encourage every student to embrace the joy of learning, make the most of each lesson, and strive to become the best version of themselves.

Year 9 marks a key stage in a student’s journey, as it begins the process of selecting GCSE subjects—a decision that will influence future education and career pathways. Students are encouraged to engage fully with all subjects, explore their interests, and build a strong academic foundation. Throughout the year, they will receive tailored support through assemblies, parents' evenings, subject discussions, and guidance events to help them make informed, confident choices.

Equally important to academic progress is how students contribute to our school community. At North Chadderton, we promote the values of "Be Kind, Work Hard, Make a Difference". We believe that kindness, respect, and empathy create a positive environment where everyone feels valued. By living out these values, students also develop important life skills such as compassion, emotional intelligence, and leadership.

We also recognise that student wellbeing is essential to success. That’s why we encourage open communication between school and home. If you have any concerns regarding your child’s progress or welfare, please reach out to their form tutor in the first instance. We thank you for your continued support and look forward to a productive, rewarding Year 9 for all our students.
