Year 9

Welcome from the Head of Year

Year 9 (ID 1284)

The new academic year is a time of excitement and anticipation as students and teachers prepare for a fresh start. It marks the beginning of a journey filled with learning, growth, and new opportunities. From the first day of the new term, there is a sense of energy in the air as classrooms come alive with discussions, activities, and the pursuit of knowledge. The new school year holds the promise of new discoveries, new challenges, and new achievements. It is a time to embrace the joy of learning and to make the most of every opportunity that comes our way.

Year 9 marks the start of the process of selecting GCSE subjects, allowing students to tailor their education to their interests and career aspirations. It is an important decision that requires careful consideration and guidance, as it sets the stage for their academic and professional future. Every student within the year group must focus on all subjects to give themselves the opportunity to select a broad and balanced curriculum to study at GCSE level. Each student must ensure that they give all subjects maximum attention and that they work extremely hard, so that they can achieve their full potential and hence move on to their chosen future pathway.

Mrs Fallows and I will be here to support all Year 9 students both emotionally and academically throughout the Year. We want to ensure that we support the needs of every student within our year group and guide them through their academic journey.

We expect all our Year 9 students to actively demonstrate our school ethos in their everyday lives at North Chadderton School - “Be Kind Make A Difference”.

Being kind and making a difference in school is not only beneficial for others, but it also has a positive impact on ourselves. Small acts of kindness can go a long way in creating a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected. Ultimately, being kind and making a difference in school not only enhances the well-being of others but also allows us to grow as individuals. It cultivates a sense of empathy, compassion, and leadership skills that are valuable both within and beyond the school environment. Year 9 will be striving to be kind and make a difference within our school, hence creating a positive ripple effect that will extend far beyond the classroom walls.

Your child’s emotional wellbeing and academic success is imperative. Therefore, if you have any concerns, please could you contact your child’s form tutor in the first instance. They can then direct you to the most appropriate member of staff.

Thank you for your on-going support.
